How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Claudia Gray - Hourglass
Start: 6:00 pm
After escaping from Evernight Academy, the vampire boarding school where they met, Bianca and Lucas seek refuge with Black Cross, an elite group of vampire hunters. Bianca must hide her supernatural heritage or risk certain death at their hands. But when Black Cross captures her friend--the vampire Balthazar--all her secrets threaten to come out. Soon, Bianca and Lucas have orchestrated Balthazar's escape and are on the run, pursued not only by Black Cross, but also by the powerful leaders of Evernight. Yet no matter how far they run, Bianca can't escape her destiny. Join us this evening for a thrilling and fantastical event with YA author Claudia Gray and her highly anticipated third installment in the Evernight series, Hourglass. This evening starting at 6:00PM.
Jon Cotner - Ten Walks/Two Talks
Start: 7:00 pm
Praised by Time Out as “philosophical, formally innovative and fascinating,” Ten Walks/Two Talks combines a series of sixty-minute, sixty-sentence walks around New York City and a pair of dialogues about walking—one of which takes place during a late-night ramble through Central Park. Join authors Jon Cotner and Andy Fitch as they perform excerpts from their exciting, hilarious debut. “No ordinary tour guide, Ten Walks/Two Talks is an associative journey where scents, noises, people, and buildings are meticulously described through the eyes of intensely attentive explorers” (The Architect’s Newspaper). Austin’s walkers must not miss this event! With a special pre-SXSW appearance by indie filmmaker/actor Alex Karpovsky. Tonight at 7PM.
