How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Hippity Hippity Hop to the Hop - Bunny Rabbits Storytime
Start: 10:30 am

Bunnies are the most loveable of all the woodland creatures. These cuddly little jumpers have long soft ears, pink noses, and boy, do they love carrots! We'll read Bunny Days along with other bunny tail tales. This morning at 10:30 AM.

Elizabeth Moon - Oath of Fealty
Start: 7:00 pm

Texan Elizabeth Moon is back with the fantasy novel her fans have
been waiting for 20 years for! In Oath of Fealty, the long-vanished heir to
the half-elven kingdom of Lyonya has been revealed as Kieri Phelan, a
formidable mercenary captain who earned a title—and enemies—in the
neighboring kingdom of Tsaia. Now, as Kieri ascends a throne he never
sought, he must come to terms with his own half-elven heritage while
protecting his new kingdom from his old enemies—and those he has not yet
discovered. Tonight at 7PM.

Spring Has Almost Sprung
Start: 10:30 am

Winter is officially over and the grass is looking greener everyday! Come join us this morning, little sprouts, for a storytime all about the amazing, new, fresh delights that Spring has to offer. We'll read Bear Want More, along with other dewy stories to welcome the greenest season of all. This morning at 10:30 AM.

Mac McCaughan and Laura Balance - Our Noise
Start: 6:00 pm

Merge Records defies everything you’ve heard about the music
business. Started by two twenty-year-old musicians, Merge is a lesson in how
to make and market great music on a human scale. The fact that the company
is prospering in a failing industry is something of a miracle. In
celebration of their twentieth anniversary, founders Mac and Laura offer
first-person accounts—with the help of their colleagues and Merge artists—of
their work, their lives, and the culture of making music. Tonight at 6PM.

Stranger Than Fiction Book Club
Start: 7:00 pm

Reading fiction to escape reality is a great way to unwind, but
exploring reality can sometimes be even more rewarding. These books aren’t
about fictional characters or locales. They don’t happen in a far away land
or make believe place. They are stories of our world, of our journeys, of
reality and our perception of it. We’ll be reading books that range from
botany to black holes and, trust me, it’s stranger than fiction. This
month’s book is Blessed Unrest by Paul Hawken.
