BBC Radio calls Austin author Greg Garrett one of America's leading voices on religion and culture, and Greg's new book from Oxford University Press, Entertaining Judgment: The Afterlife in Popular Imagination, brings together decades of reflection on art, literature, and pop culture. Join Greg at BookPeople on Thursday, January 22, as he discusses the stories we tell about death and the afterlife--and why we tell them. He will be joined on stage by local authors Owen Egerton and Sarah Bird to start a conversation about how artists and writers depict the afterlife. Refreshments provided by Saint Arnold Brewing Company
Greg Garrett is 2013 Centennial Professor at Baylor University, where he teaches classes in fiction and screenwriting, literature, film and popular culture, and theology. The author or co-author of three dozen short stories, a dozen scholarly articles, and twenty books of fiction, nonfiction, and memoir, Dr. Garrett is also Residential Scholar at Gladstone's Library in Wales and a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal Church. He lives with his family in Austin, Texas.
