How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Bestselling YA Authors
JAY ASHER
(Thirteen Reasons Why)
& CAROLYN  MACKLER
(The Earth, My Butt and
Other Big, Round Things
)

will speak & sign their new novel,
The Future of Us.

YA lovers, get ready for a very cool event! Tonight we are a very lucky bookstore, indeed, to welcome authors Jay Asher and Carolyn Macker. Their new novel, The Future of Us, has already met with critical acclaim. The New York Times said in its review, "The real value of The Future of Us...is the rich crop of questions it will raise in teenage readers." A book that gets us talking? We love it!

Here's the premise:

It's 1996, and less than half of all American high school students have ever used the Internet. Emma just got her first computer and an America Online CD-ROM. Josh is her best friend. They power up and log on--and discover themselves on Facebook, fifteen years in the future. Everybody wonders what their Destiny will be. Josh and Emma are about to find out.

Read some of our teen reviews of this book.

Jay Asher has worked at an independent bookstore, an outlet bookstore, a chain bookstore, and two public libraries. He hopes, someday, to work for a used bookstore. When he is not writing, Jay plays guitar and goes camping. Thirteen Reasons Why was his first published novel.

Carolyn Mackler is the author of Vegan Virgin Valentine, the acclaimed prequel to this novel, as well as the Michael L. Printz Honor Book The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things. She lives in New York.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book from BookPeople in advance of the event, please save your receipt and present it at the event.

Thank you for supporting Jay Asher, Carolyn Mackler, and your local independent bookstore!
