How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Moonwalking with Einstein:
The Art and Science of Remembering Everything.

Moonwalking with Einstein made a big splash when it first hit shelves. It was a New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Publishers Weekly Bestseller; a New York Times Notable Book; and named a Best Book of 2011 by The Washington Post, O, The Oprah Magazine, Discover Magazine, and Salon.com. We're thrilled to bring Joshua Foer to Austin to discuss this fascinating look at the human mind.

On average, people squander forty days annually compensating for things they've forgotten. But in this age of devices smarter than we are, who really needs to remember anything anymore, right?  In his acclaimed book, Joshua Foer chronicles his bid to resurrect the forgotten art of remembering.

Moonwalking with Einstein draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of memory, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human remembering.Using methods that have been largely forgotten, Foer discovers that we can all dramatically improve our memories, and finds himself in the finals of the U.S. Memory Championship. Even more important, he finds a vital truth we too often forget: In every way that matters, we are the sum of our memories.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book from BookPeople in advance of the event, please save your receipt and present it at the event.

Thank you for supporting Joshua Foer, and your local independent bookstore!
