How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

After watching the A&E/BBC miniseries Pride & Prejudice, Linda Berdoll went on an all-out Austen spree. The conclusion she drew after re-reading all of Austen's novels as well as investigating other research materials was that Austen left quite a bit out of her telling of the Regency Era. She wrote about only what a respectable married woman of the era would be privy to - and ended every time with the wedding ceremony!

Linda wanted to know what would come after, and so she began her bestselling series of books with Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife and Darcy and Elizabeth. Now she continues the series with The Darcys: The Ruling Passion, chronicling the lives of Darcy and Elizabeth and their family.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book in advance of the event, please save your receipt and bring it with you to the signing.
