How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Local Author Night - featuring SUE DONAHOE; RANDY RUPLEY; FLO BOWEN

  • Adult Event
03/09/2012 7:00 pm

We love our local authors here at BookPeople, and tonight we're pleased to have with us two local Austin writers who will present their work.

SUE DONAHOE will present Never Heard of 'Em: Austin's Music Explosion. Packed with photos, magazine articles, and bios, this happy new book documents Austin’s exciting music scene in the ‘90s and takes a peak at the faces and places in Austin music today.

RANDY RUPLEY will present Fredericksburg: The Colony of German Nobelman's Society in Texas. The novel Fredericksburg was first published in 1867 by Friedrich Armand Strubberg. He describes his experiences as colonial director of Fredericksburg and how he signed a peace treaty with the Comanche Nation which is still honored today. Rupley offers this new translation of Strubberg's work.

FLO BOWEN will present Feed Your Soul: Let if Flow. If you feel depleted, worn out, dissatisfied, ready for a change in your life, these fifty poems will replenish your soul with soothing words. These words will fill you up with healing energy, they will lift your spirit up and inspire you to see that there is a 2nd or 3rd dimension to the thought that causes you sorrow.
