How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

Community food systems expert MARK WINNE will speak about and sign his new book, Food Rebels, Guerrilla Gardeners, & Smart-Cookin' Mamas: Fighting Back in an Age of Industrial Agriculture.

The rapidly growing alternative food system is made up of people reclaiming their connections to their food and their health. A forty-year veteran of this movement, Mark Winne introduces us to innovative “local doers” who are turning urban wastelands into farms, creating local dairy collectives, preserving farmland, refusing to use genetically modified seed, and much more. He challenges us to go beyond eating local to become part of a larger solution, demanding a system that sustains body and soul.
