We'll be celebrating MysteryPeople's 1st Anniversary at this event! So come join us on our third floor which will be transformed into a medeival ale house where we'll be dressed in our medieval best while Jeri Westerson shows us her cache of weaponry from the period and we celebrate the first year of MysteryPeople as Austin's crime fiction hub! 

Jeri Westerson is the author of three previous books featuring medieval knight Crispin Guest and we're thrilled to be able to introduce her to mystery fans here in Austin. Because Jeri will be in town so close to Halloween, we're throwing a costume party! Put on your medieval garb (we're making Scott wear a jester's hat, which he'll only pretend to hate) and join us for refreshments as we welcome Jeri to Austin! 

In Troubled Bones, disgraced knight Crispin Guest gets himself into some serious trouble in London and as a result is forced to accept an assignment far out of town.  The Archbishop of Canterbury has specifically requested Guest to investigate a threat against the bones of saint and martyr Thomas a Beckett, which are on display in the cathedral in Canterbury.

When he arrives at Canterbury, Guest is accosted by an old acquaintance from court – one Geoffrey Chaucer – and is surrounded by a group in town on a pilgrimage. Trapped amongst the pilgrims (who were, quite possibly, the model for Chaucer’s famous story cycle), looking for a murderer, a hidden heretic and a solution to the riddle that will allow him to go back home, Crispin Guest finds his considerable wit and intellect taxed to its very limit.
