MysteryPeople Presents
Noir at the Bar

Featuring
Michael Koryta
Jesse Sublett
George Weir

at Opal Divine's
(700 West 6th St.)

The only thing most crime fiction fans love as much as books is drinking, so it only makes sense that someone would combine both. Started in Philadelphia a few years, Noir At The Bar has made its way across the country from St, Louis to LA. MysteryPeople hosted the first ever Noir At The Bar in Austin, and we're excited to do it again at Opal Divine's.

We have three great authors on deck tonight:

Michael Koryta is the author of seven previous novels, including Envy the Night, which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for best mystery/thriller, and the Lincoln Perry series, which has earned nominations for the Edgar, Shamus, and Quill awards and won the Great Lakes Book Award. He'll be reading from his new book, The Prophet.

George Weir is a Native Texan living with his wife, Sallie, in Austin who writes Texas-based crime and mystery novels. His first published work was "Duckweed", a contribution to Lone Star Noir, Akashic Books, 2010. He is the author of the Bill Travis mystery series. His forthcoming Long Fall From Heaven, with Milton T. Burton, will be in print in March 2013.

Austin musician and author Jesse Sublett will read his work featured in Lone Star Noir. Jesse will also entertain us with some of his tunes.

So come out to Opal's (700 West 6th St.) at 7PM and help us with our new tradition - Austin's Noir at the Bar.

How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.
