How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

We're thrilled to be hosting the release party for Austin's own
AMANDA EYRE WARD and her new novel based on a true story, Close Your Eyes.

Amanda Eyre Ward's latest novel is a dark mystery partially inspired by real events. For most of her life, Lauren Mahdian has been certain of two things: that her mother is dead, and that her father is a murderer. But when she begins to question that reality, her whole world shifts focus.

The staff loves this fantastic novel, and we think you will too. With beer (and root beer) courtesy of Saint Arnold's Brewing Co., a jazz duet will be playing from 6:30-7PM, and a fantastic contest for young writers co-sponsored by the Austin Bat Cave, this is way more than your average reading.
