How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

They'll be serving up the "Idea-Generating" margaritas featured in the cookbook, with tequila courtesy of Republic Tequila, so bring your IDs and come on down!

The Casserole Queens are a fabulous food delivery service right here in Austin. They've embraced 1950s kitsc to resurrect the good old casserole, and deliver fresh-from-scratch meals straight to Austinite doors in heels, aprons, the whole shebang! You may recognize them from the Food Network where they appeared on Throwdown with Bobby Flay - and won!

We think it's pretty keen that we get to host the release party for their first cookbook, aptly titled The Casserole Queens Cookbook. Here, they share their fresh, updated, from-scratch recipes for traditional dishes. Tuna Noodle is brought up a notch with a homemade cream sauce and a kick of cayenne pepper; Halibut Enchiladas with Salsa Verde are surprisingly light and vibrant; Mandarin Meatloaf has a sweet orange flavor that recharges a beloved weeknight staple. There are home-style desserts, like Gooey Apple Butter Cake, and great brunch dishes, such as Frenchy Toast Casserole. The Queens have thought of everything, providing advice on scaling and freezing casseroles so that anyone can stock the freezer with go-to dinners.
