How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

RUBY DEE PHILIPPA
of Ruby Dee & The Snakehandlers
will speak & sign
Ruby's Juke Joint
Americana Cookbook
.

We'll kick off this event
with a live performance by
Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers!

Whether it's touring with her band Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers or serving up a backyard barbeque, Ruby Dee always has something cooking. From the first taste of her feisty and spicy sound to the last bite of a crowd pleasing dish, Ruby Dee is making fans rave and crave her winning recipes.

Now, Ruby's collected her favorite Americana recipes in a brand new cookbook. She includes everything from a smorgasbord of enticing recipes for appetizers. drinks, special occasion dinners, and sweet farewells; to stories of Americana dishes and the ingredients that make them great; to behind-the-scenes slices of life on the road with the band Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers. The book also comes with a full-length CD that's a mix of lively Americana tunes. This is going to be a rocking good time, don't miss it!

Ruby Dee, from Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers, brings many years various life experiences along for the ride. Ruby grew up traveling back and forth from Northern California foothill ranches to the cotton and oil fields of the Texas panhandle. She enrolled in college at 15, dropping out to hit the streets as a punk in San Francisco. Later, she spent years fishing in Alaska, catering in the film industry, and owning restaurants in Seattle, Washington, until she finally gave all that up to settle down back in Texas, where she is at long last furthering her career as a writer and singer/songwriter.These experiences are reflected in Ruby’s writing style, and in the band’s hopped up high-octane successes on stage and on the road.
