How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

TIFFANY HARELIK - Trailer Food Diaries

  • Adult Event
10/12/2011 7:00 pm

Travel & Food Writer
TIFFANY HARELIK
will speak & sign her new cookbook
based on her blog,
Trailer Food Diaries.

Peached Tortilla and The Holy Cacao food trailers will be parked in our lot and ready to take your order.

We'll have delicious and refreshing brews on hand courtesy of Saint Arnold Brewing Company (for folks who are 21+.)

As we all know, Austin isn't just the live music capital of the world - it's the trailer food capital, too! In her travel and food blog, Trailer Food Diaries, Tiffany Harelik takes readers on a trip through the entrepreneurial spirits and admired recipes that are keeping the culture of our trailer food scene weird. In this cookbook, Harelik provides a road map to explore trailer food within the setting of her hometown’s rebel charm. From paninis and cannolis, to tacos and doughnuts, to BBQ and chicken and waffles, this cookbook enables any home chef to become the hero of their next dinner party.

Tiffany Harelik is a travel and food writer with a focus in street food culture. She is a founding organizer of the Gypsy Picnic trailer food festival, held annually right here in Austin, TX. The mission of her blog, Trailer Food Diaries, is to inspire entrepreneurs to join the food trailer revolution, to inspire consumers to support local farms and street food businesses, and to increase awareness about childhood hunger.

Food trailers at this event, in their own words:

Flavors know no boundaries at the peached tortilla.  There are no rules.  We start and stop with putting out innovative, great tasting food for the masses.  It’s time to join the flavor revolution and unzip your taste buds.  Austin, allow yourself to get peached. We currently operate one mobile food truck and a food trailer permanently located at 2538 Guadalupe St

Holy Cacao is a sweet little dessert trailer in the heart of Austin, Texas. Stop on by today and treat yourself to a cake shake or frozen hot chocolate or cake ball on a stick. Holy Cacao cake balls start as cakes baked from scratch using the highest quality, freshest ingredients around. Once these delicious cakes are cooled, they are crumbled together with freshly made frosting and the mixture is then rolled into a ball and dipped in chocolate. To make the cake balls “trailer chic” we put them on Popsicle Sticks.
