How Our Events Work

BookPeople is proud to host over 300 events every year. Our events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

To get a book signed at one of our events, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business, but you are also showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople. Think of it this way: you wouldn't bring your own beer to a bar, would you?

For events where we anticipate large crowds, wristbands may be required in order to join the signing line. Occasionally we may also ticket events. In both cases, information as to when wristbands/tickets are available will be found on that event's specific page on our website.

TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA (Keith Grimwood & Ezra Idlet) Performance/Booksigning

 Grammy Award-Nominated Musical Duo
TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA
(aka KEITH GRIMWOOD & EZRA IDLET)
will perform and sign copies
of their new book,
Chicken Joe Forgets Something Important.

Trout Fishing in America is the long-standing musical partnership of Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. The name, taken from a Richard Brautigan novel, seems almost as incongruous as a picture of this musical duo: Ezra Idlet (guitar) stands six feet nine inches and Keith Grimwood (bass), five feet five and one half inches. They have been writing, recording and performing together for three decades, and have been dubbed the "...Lennon and McCartney of children's music..." (Kathy O'Connell, NPR.)

Chicken Joe, the cat who sleeps in the hen house, is happily dreaming about rock and roll. A rooster’s raucous crow wakes him up way too early. Everyone on the farm knows today is a special day, but in his sleepy morning haze, Chicken Joe can’t remember just what it is. Even Joe’s best friend, a city dog named Miss Kitty, won’t tell him. Find out why this is Chicken Joe’s big day!

The book includes CD in the back cover that includes a home video with Keith and Ezra talking about where they live, their inspiration for writing the songs on the album, and the instruments they used to record the music, plus a live version of the original Chicken Joe song performed in Ezra’s treehouse.

In order to have anything signed at a BookPeople event, a copy of the event book must be purchased from BookPeople. If you purchase your book from BookPeople in advance of the event, please be prepared to present your receipt.

Thank you for supporting Trout Fishing of America, and your local independent bookstore!
