Picnic On A Circus Train

This satire on the coming-of-age genre begins on the plains of West Texas, continues to the wonders of the West Coast, and ends a few miles from the bridge at West Memphis. Jack Desbrough, the picaresque protagonist, remains an innocent abroad in mid-20th century America. Jack's associations include mad bombers, would-be rubber barons, bicycle gurus, and migrating pool sharks. And like Don Quixote before him, Jack even has his encounters with windmills.
