This rigorous class combines effective outlining with group and individual writing strategies to help writers get anything from first drafts to final drafts on the page. We’ll keep track of word count and story structure week by week as we work toward milestones in the manuscript. Writers in adult fiction, young adult fiction, and middle grade fiction are all welcome. Beginners, intermediate, and experienced writers alike can adhere their manuscripts to the flexible structure of the course. Ages 16 and up.
Each meeting will be two hours long. We’ll start out the first meeting by exploring outline worksheets and mapping out the plot and character arcs. Subsequent meetings will consist of sharing individual progress, conducting “writing sprints,” and setting goals for the next meeting.
Required text: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott (order separately)
This class will meet 6 Wednesdays from 12pm-2pm: February 1, February 8, February 15, February 22, March 1, March 8
