Mixed Company:
The First of the Decent Men Series

From former Texas federal and state prosecutor and defense attorney Andy Horne comes a novel about a swindle in a small Texas town. Dolph is more than just a swindler, however; he's also a successful investor. What changes the heart of a secret swindler? In Mixed Company, Horne explores just that.

What makes an occasional swindler abandon that career? What influences change the heart of such a person? Are the effects sudden or cumulative? Mixed Company provides one set of influences, sometimes humorous, gnawing at Dolph Cavanaugh’s dual identities of traveling con man and honestly successful investor in his small town Texas community. Ensnared in conventional trappings of decency, Dolph is driven to foil plans of other perverse swindlers who have come to town. Characters in Mixed Company are more than the stick figures of seemingly formula fiction forgotten by the last page; they are credible composites of people we recognize every day.

Andy Horne, a former Texas federal and state prosecutor and defense attorney specialized in fraud schemes and banking crimes. He interrupted his prosecution career to serve as a U.S. Navy Swift Boat officer in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. Later he served as an Assistant Attorney General for a Pacific island government. He now lives with his wife in Galveston, Texas.
