The Blueprint to Age Your Way
Debbie Pearson returns tonight with her follow-up The Blueprint to Age Your Way. With over forty years experience as a practicing nurse, Pearson has developed a proactive, step-by-step guide to help you and your loved one be prepared for the critical end-of-life situations we all must face. Join us tonight for an informative discussion.
ABOUT THE BLUEPRINT TO AGE YOUR WAY
Forty years in healthcare, I’ve witnessed anxiety from lack of planning and an absence of critical information. Patients have taught me much regarding what is needed and propelled me to develop a structure aimed at being proactive. All generations may find this useful as it can be developed at any of the three stages: Stage One (total control), Stage Two (with collaboration), or Stage Three (crisis management). The Age Your Way Blueprint is my solution! There may be other options available for you to utilize. What matters is that you give the gift of knowledge to your family. My whole life I have recognized how information is power. Some people want to hold on to information as a means of retaining authority over the situation. That strategy morphs to a lack of control during injury or aging. When you need help the most, do you want family making panicked decisions without information? Of course not. You also don’t want them spending months digging through piles of trash and treasure to figure out the puzzle of your life and your medical wishes.
ABOUT DEBBIE PEARSON
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Debbie grew up with three siblings, a stay at home mom and an entrepreneurial father who built and grew a successful men’s clothing business that he absolutely loved. Growing up, Debbie saw firsthand what it looked like to be using one’s talents and gifts to their fullest, and, though it took a while, she eventually discovered hers.
At the age of 27, and with three small children, she needed to go work outside the home. “I went out and got a book about jobs,” she says. “And I read that a job as a nurse had a lot of long-term security. I didn’t know any nurses, and I had never aspired to be a nurse, but that made a lot of sense to me, so I enrolled in the three-year nurses training program at Brackenridge Hospital – the hospital I was born in. At age 30 I completed the course study and went to work. From the very first minute in the program, I knew that I had found my life’s work, my heartbeat, and over the past 40 years it’s never died.” Debbie completed a B.S. in nursing five years later at The University of Texas in Austin. Her ability to be a good listener, to be unflappable, and her deep caring for others all merged into a series of events that would impact her community and beyond.
