Books for Babies Event!
A fundraiser created by local Girl Scouts.

BookPeople and local Girl Scouts, Aurora Zemborain and Gabbi De La Torre (Troop 299), are partnering to host Books for Babies, a fun family event benefiting the local March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program at Dell Children’s Hospital. The event will take place on August 31, 2014, from noon until 6:00 pm on our 3rd floor. Admission price is one new children’s book (per child) purchased from BookPeople. The books will be donated to to Dell Children's Hospital.

Join Us For:

  • Arts and Crafts Projects
  • Snacks
  • Magic by Carlos, 2PM
  • Pretty Faces Face Painting , 4-6PM

Children will enjoy snacks, and participate in fun crafts such as: decorating cookies; making paper rainbows, hearts and stars; creating stick puppets, and trees with handart; and designing bookmarks and fortune tellers. A Magician (Magic by Carlos) will perform at 2pm and Face Painter (Danielle Merida) will paint children’s faces from 4-6pm.

Admission price is one new children’s book (per child) purchased from BookPeople. All donated books will be given to families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Dell Children’s Hospital to read with their babies. Recent studies show that reading may help improve the health of premature babies. Researchers found that when babies were read to, they were less likely to stop breathing or have their heart rate drop. Additionally their brains develop more quickly when interacted with in this way.

Thank you to the event donors:
