Independent Bookstore Day!

Saturday, April 29, 2017 - 12:00pm
603 N Lamar

In addition to having some of the wonderful exclusive Independent Bookstore Day merchandise and being an official stop on the first ever Austin Bookstore Crawl, we have some fun activities planned!

Starting at 11:30: We have plenty of awesome activities for all of our BookKids! Start the day with a classic BookPeople storytime in the amphitheatre on our second floor. We will be reading Feminist Baby, a charming story about a strong, independent baby, and we have so many goodies and swag to give away to parents and kids alike! After storytime, stick around the Kids section to learn how to write your own classic Little Golden Book. We will have a Golden Books photo booth, as well as photo cut-outs of a few of our favorite picture book characters and some wonderful literary prizes! And don’t forget to grab some BookKids stickers, Golden Books bags, buttons, and more swag from your independent bookstore!

10am-1pm: Come find your Kindred Spirit during Independent Bookstore Day. Show up in a costume representing your Fandom and take a picture in our Kindred Spirits photo booth! This is your chance to find your fellow whovians, shadowhunters, potter heads, and more! Plus we will be giving away 5 copies of Rainbow Rowell's Kindred Spirits each hour the booth is open.

10am-1pm: Fanfic Station: Have you ever wanted to help your ship sail? Do you hate the ending of that trilogy that you dedicated your life to? Did your favorite book, TV show, movie leave you with too many unresolved feels? Well, now you can let them out. During Independent Bookstore Day we will have a Fanfic table in the Teen Lit section where you can write your own 1 page one-shot for the world to read!
