Grow Happy

Come on out this Sunday afternoon for a father-daughter team event! Jon and Sage Lasser bring us Grow Happy, a hopeful and inspiring story to encourage all of us. Learn how to grow your own happiness, bit by bit! Make good choices, cultivate your joy, and garden in your own heart--a great resolution for a new year.

Kiko is a gardener. She takes care of her garden with seeds, soil, water, and sunshine. In Grow Happy, Kiko also demonstrates how she cultivates happiness, just like she does in her garden. Using positive psychology and choice theory, this book shows children that they have the tools to nurture their own happiness and live resiliently. Includes a "Note to Parents and Caregivers" with information on how our choices and paying attention to our bodies and feelings affects happiness.

Jon Lasser, PhD, is a psychologist, school psychologist, professor, and program director of the school psychology program at Texas State University. At Texas State he has developed and taught graduate courses for the school psychology program and has also taught the freshman first-year experience course. He has co-authored two other books (School Psychologist as Counselor and Professional Ethics in Midwifery Practice) as well as journal articles and chapters on a variety of subjects including autism, parenting, ethics, sexuality, and graduate preparation. Jon holds a bachelor's degree in Plan II liberal arts from the Unviersity of Texas at Austin, a master's degree in human sexuality education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in school psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He grows happy by spending time with his family, kayaking, listening to Bob Dylan, and gardening.

Sage Foster-Lasser is a student at the University of Texas at Austin, where she majors in psychology. Upon the completion of her bachelor's degree, Sage plans to take time to travel and explore before moving on to pursue a graduate degree in some area of psychology. Sage enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading while snacking, and spending time with all of the wonderful people around her. Sage's loving family members, amazing group of friends and, last but not least, beloved golden doodle Nico help her grow happy every day.
