KUT Book Club-A Love Letter to Texas Women

Join Jennifer Stayton, host of KUT's "Morning Edition," to discuss Austin- and Texas-themed books. This month's pick is A Love Letter to Texas Women.

The midterm elections may be over, but Texans always love talking politics. Join us for the KUT Book Club Monday night at seven when we’ll be discussing A Love Letter to Texas Women

In February of 2017,  Dan was moving from Philadelphia to Austin. Before he moved to Texas, he contacted KUT with the following request for some reading material:  “I like to know as much as possible about where I am, what community I’m a part of, where I’m living," he said. "It’s important for me to have an idea of the space that I’m occupying, and books are generally one good way to learn about a place.”

After Dan asked KUT for book suggestions, KUT reached out to listeners for ideas for books about Austin or Texas to help orient Dan to his new city. KUT listeners enthusiastically responded, providing almost 200 recommendations within just a few days.

The response was so overwhelming, KUT decided to start a book club! We meet on the second Monday of each month to discuss a selected title from those listener suggestions that illuminates something about the city and state we call home. The books cross genres, authors and eras but share Austin and Texas roots and themes.
