Local Author Night featuring C. Andrew Martin, Patricia Krager, and Adam Ruhl
|We love our local authors here at BookPeople, and tonight
we're pleased to have three of them with us to present their new work. |
C. Andrew Martin will speak about and sign Reflections of a Loving Partner. Reflections of a Loving Partner is the intimate story of two devoted partners confronting the challenges of a terminal diagnosis. Author C. Andrew Martin's world was shattered when his life partner, Gil, was diagnosed with AIDS. This eloquent memoir shares their love story, unveiling the burdens and the joys of the caregiving journey. Andrew chose to become Gil's caregiver. To prepare for what lay ahead, Andrew enrolled in hospice volunteer training, learning lessons to guide him through the medical, emotional, spiritual, and legal hazards of caregiving. Now a registered nurse and leader in the field of hospice and palliative care, Andrew has turned his personal experience into his life's work, sharing with others the valuable lessons he learned. Andrew shows us that when we are open to its possibilities, the loving and selfless act of being a caregiver for someone who is at the end of life can teach us just as much about living as about dying.
Patricia Krager will speak about and sign Wise Irish Women. Open the door to the legends of successful, inspirational women with one common thread - a heartwarming connection to Ireland. Welcome to Wise Irish Women. Each story is about pursuing a dream and making a difference. Whether it's one by the great mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark, playwright Marianne McDonald, or the authors themselves, each illuminates how these wise women have made a difference in their own corner of the world.
Adam Ruhl will speak about and sign The Devil is My Co-Pilot. After the road to Los Angeles is cut off by a terrorist attack, Jake is caught up in the panic that sweeps the nation. With a pair of hitchhikers in tow, Jake ventures ever further up the coast; facing criminals, corrupt authorities, and an evil in the Pacific Northwest woods.
