Vengeance Is Mine

Tonight MysteryPeople brings together three of its favorite authors to share their latest tales of crime, cops and Texas. Between Bryant, Rheder and Wortham's characters, we're dealing with a vindictive dancehall ownerm, a blind man working in a gun store, millions of dollars, and the Summer of Love. Join us as we talk about it all!

About Tim Bryant:

Tim Bryant is a writer, having published his first novel Dutch Curridge in 2010. Since that time, he's written five other books, including two in the Dutch Curridge series (2013's Southern Select and this year's Spirit Trap) and the novella-in-free-verse KEACHI. His short story "Doll's Eyes" was part of Subterranean Press' anthology Impossible Monsters in 2013. Tim's heart lives in New Orleans, but his head lives in East Texas. He lives with his head and visits his heart as often as possible. He shares living quarters with Leela and their two wonderful children.

About Spirit Trap

Spirit Trap not only reunites the Fort Worth detective with his friends Slant Face and James Alto, it also brings back favorites like Ruthie Nell Parker and Verbal and Noble Whitaker. There’s a dead family in a small country house, a blind man working in a gun store, a vindictive dancehall owner and a wild animal waiting at the edge of the woods. All have one thing in common, and it isn’t their love for the Texas two-step.

About Ben Rehder:

Edgar Award-nominated author Ben Rehder's Blanco County comic mysteries have made best-of-the-year lists in Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, Kirkus Reviews, and Field & Stream.

About Get Busy Dying

Everyone thinks Boz Gentry died in a fiery traffic accident, but Roy Ballard and Mia Madison aren’t convinced. As legal videographers, it’s their job to provide evidence of insurance fraud—and the more they dig into the Gentry case, the more they realize this might be the most elaborate scheme they’ve ever encountered. Of course, when millions of dollars are at stake, con men will take drastic steps to protect their scam—including arson, assault, or even murder. Can Roy and Mia unravel the conspiracy before the criminals get desperate enough to kill?

About Reavis Wortham:

Reavis Z. Wortham was born in Paris, Texas. He is the author of Doreen’s 24 HR Eat Gas Now Café. Humor editor and frequent contributor for Texas Fish and Game Magazine, he writes on everything from fishing to deer hunting. In addition to several other magazines, his work has appeared in American Cowboy and Texas Sporting Journal. A retired educator of 35 years, he and wife Shana live in Frisco, Texas. They have two daughters, Chelsea and Megan. An award-winning writer and photographer, Reavis has been recognized for his unique style of outdoor journalism. He is a member of Mystery Writers of America and the Writers' League of Texas.

About Vengeange Is Mine:

In October of 1967, The Summer of Love is history, rock and roll is dark and revolutionary, and people in the small east Texas community of Center Springs simply want to live their lives as quietly as possible. But a handsome darkness in the form of Las Vegas gangster Anthony Agrioli has left the business to hide out in the tiny backwater settlement with his blond bombshell girlfriend... A sheriff crooked as a dog's hind leg, an unsolved murder in the river bottoms, counterfeit money and a bank robbery all wrapped in a country Shakespearian comedy once again brings together Constable Ned Parker, Constable Cody Parker, Deputy John Washington, Judge O.C. Rains, and the rest of Wortham's real and sometimes wacky cast of characters.
