Award-Winning Fiction Writer

speaking & signing her story collection, Reptile House

Robin McLean's award-winning debut short story collection Reptile House is inhabited by killers and thieves, astronauts, moose hunters and country club ladies, all seeking some way out, some new door to imagined happiness. McLean's stories probe the underbelly of human behavior, revealing the darker motivations behind the chilling interactions she breathes to life. Join us this evening as she reads from her work.

Robin McLean was a lawyer and then a potter for 15 years in the woods of Alaska before receiving her MFA at UMass Amherst in Massachusetts. Her first short story collection Reptile House won the 2013 BOA Editions Fiction Prize and will be published in May 2015. The collection was a finalist for the Flannery O’Connor Short Story Prize in 2011 and 2012. McLean’s stories are forthcoming in The Cincinnati Review, and Carve and have appeared widely in such places as Green Mountains Review, The Western Humanities Review, The Carolina Quarterly, The Nashville Review, The Malahat Review, Gargoyle, The Common, and Copper Nickel, as well as the anthology American Fiction: The Best Unpublished Short Stories by Emerging Writers.
